In a major breakthrough, Kolar and Katara Hills police have arrested three members of an interstate burglary gang and recovered stolen property worth approximately Rs1.5 crore, officials said on Thursday.
The accused were identified as Yashwant Raghuvanshi (30), Bhupendra Sahu (29), and Abhilash Vishwakarma (33). They were arrested from Vidisha, Raisen, and Bhopal, respectively.
Addressing a press conference, Police Commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra revealed that the gang meticulously targeted unoccupied houses. They brought in accomplices from other states, lodging them in local hotels or rented homes before executing the burglaries.
Post-theft, the stolen gold was mortgaged at a private finance company in Mandideep to raise money for online trading, police said.
The operation was spearheaded by ACP Anjali Raghuvanshi, under the guidance of senior officers. The arrest is expected to unravel more unsolved theft cases through the confessions and financial trail of the accused.
