Yashpal Singh Murder Solved: Two Arrested in Amritsar

Shopkeeper killed during theft; accused held within days

The Amritsar Police Commissionerate claimed to have solved a mysterious murder case with the arrest of two accused just days after the crime.

The victim, 64-year-old Yashpal Singh, a shopkeeper and resident of Adarsh Nagar, Amritsar, was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside his shop near DAV School, Katra Parja Singh, Hathi Gate. His son, Pardeep Kumar, discovered him on the night of December 12–13, with his mouth gagged and hands tied behind his back, indicating foul play.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that technical surveillance and intelligence inputs helped track and arrest the accused on December 15. They have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad (20), from Marta Nagrota, Basoli, Kathua district, J&K, and Vishal Singh (19), from Baba Bakala Sahib, Amritsar Rural.

Investigation revealed that the accused, both laborers by profession, had entered the shop intending to commit theft. The murder occurred during the course of this crime. Authorities are continuing the investigation to recover further incriminating evidence
