On March 1 at around 11:30 PM, Rahul Charaya and Rahul Bansal were heading out for pizza on VIP Road, Zirakpur, accompanied by their friend Goldy, who was driving. Near Penta Home Society, they noticed a group of youths viciously assaulting a man.
When they stopped to help, the victim of the assault jumped into their vehicle to escape. As they attempted to flee the scene, more attackers arrived. The assailants forcibly pulled Rahul Bansal out of the back seat and brutally attacked him with sharp weapons.
A crowd gathered, prompting the attackers and the initial assault victim to flee. Rahul was rushed to a private hospital and later referred to GMCH-32, Chandigarh, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Post-murder, the accused fled to Assam and later reached Udaipur, where they were ultimately traced and arrested by Zirakpur police. DSP Singh stated that teams had been working non-stop to track down the suspects based on technical surveillance and leads.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are actively searching for Vijaypal, the remaining fugitive in the case.
