A 68-year-old man, identified as Suresh Naik of Lamgao, sustained serious head injuries after his scooter was hit by a car in a hit-and-run incident near ITI, Valshi on July 26.
The car, a Maruti Swift, was reportedly being driven rashly by Yash Ghatwal (24), a resident of Poira Maem. According to police, Ghatwal fled the scene immediately after hitting the scooter.
Following a prompt investigation, authorities were able to trace and arrest the accused. The vehicle involved was also located and taken into custody.
Suresh Naik was rushed to a hospital where he is being treated for grievous head injuries. The Bicholim Police have registered a case, and legal proceedings are underway.
Police have urged drivers to exercise caution and emphasized strict action against reckless driving and hit-and-run offenses.
