Kollur police have swiftly solved a gold chain theft at the famous Mookambika Temple, arresting the accused woman within 24 hours and recovering the stolen jewellery.
The accused has been identified as Yadava Durgamma, a resident of Ganesh Nagar in Rangareddy district, Telangana. The recovered gold chain, weighing three sovereigns and worth approximately Rs 2.5 lakh, was found in her possession.
The theft occurred on the night of September 26 around 9 p.m., when a gold chain was stolen from the bag of a devotee, Devipriya, inside the temple premises. Based on her complaint, a case was registered at the Kollur Police Station.
A police team led by Sub-Inspector Vinay M. Korlahalli quickly launched an investigation, analyzing CCTV footage and technical data, which led to the identification and arrest of the accused.
The successful operation also included support from Sub-Inspector Sudharani T. and police staff members Ram Poojary, Nagendra, Suresh, Narasimha, Raghavendra, Vasanthi, and Santosh.
Police have praised the swift teamwork that led to a quick recovery and reiterated their commitment to the safety of devotees and temple visitors.
