In the early morning of Saturday, June 21, the Brewton Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery within city limits. Victims said they were robbed at gunpoint, and the suspects fled in a vehicle. The victims provided detailed descriptions of the vehicle and its license plate.
Shortly after, officers spotted a matching vehicle parked at Whataburger. When approached, the vehicle fled at high speed northbound on US-31. A pursuit ensued into Conecuh County but was called off due to dangerous speeds.
The Conecuh County Sheriff’s Office and Evergreen Police later intercepted the vehicle north of Evergreen, bringing the chase to an end. Four suspects inside the vehicle were taken into custody and transported to Brewton Police Department.
Wyatt Askew faces charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree theft of property. Victor West Jr. is charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree theft of property, attempting to elude police, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Julius Armstrong faces charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree theft. A juvenile suspect, whose identity remains confidential, is also involved.
The case remains under active investigation.
