The Anti Narcotics Cell conducted a successful raid at Malikpur Khadar village in Yamunanagar district, arresting a woman named Shamim who was found carrying 254 grams of smack. Police revealed that Shamim had been involved in smuggling smack in the area for nearly four years, although no prior case was filed against her. Meanwhile, her husband Tayyab and other accomplices remain absconding.
According to the Anti Narcotics Cell in-charge, Satpal, Shamim was supplying drugs illegally in small quantities, mainly targeting rural areas. Despite several previous raids, no drugs were recovered from her, allowing her to evade arrest until now.
On Sunday, police received information that Shamim had stored narcotics at her home. Acting on this tip-off, the Anti Narcotics Cell team arrived with multiple vehicles and conducted a thorough raid. In the presence of the duty magistrate, a polythene bag containing smack was recovered, and Shamim was immediately arrested.
A case has been registered against Shamim at the Chhachhrauli police station in Yamunanagar district. She was produced in court on Monday and remanded to police custody to aid the ongoing investigation into the source and distribution network of the drugs.
