In a significant anti-drug operation, Golakganj Police arrested Sofiya Khatun, a 35-year-old woman, on Tuesday night after recovering 120 Yaba tablets from her possession in Koimari Part IV, Dhubri district.

Khatun, a resident of the same locality and wife of Matiar Rahman, was taken into custody as part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in the region. The authorities noted that this arrest underscores growing concerns about the spread of synthetic drugs like Yaba in border areas of Assam.

Law enforcement officials are investigating the source of the narcotics and whether other individuals are involved. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a larger drug network operating in the vicinity.

This arrest is part of broader efforts by Assam police to combat the rising menace of drugs in the state’s border districts, with authorities emphasizing that operations will continue in the coming weeks.
