The Kalamassery police have arrested 24-year-old Nitha PA from Poomangalam, Thrissur, for defrauding an Alappuzha native of Rs 19 lakh under the guise of a marriage proposal. Nitha, who created a fake identity on an online matrimony site, promised marriage to the victim, convincing him to take a membership on the site. She used this trust to deceive the victim and take money from him.
The fraud was committed in collaboration with her husband, Anshad Mahsin, who is the first accused in the case. Anshad is believed to be abroad, and a lookout notice has been issued for his arrest. Nitha was presented in court and has been remanded into custody.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, with authorities working to locate Anshad and uncover more details about the scam.
