In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Kokrajhar police apprehended Wilson Basumatary, a key narcotics supplier, on Monday evening. The arrest took place at Khargaon near the New Overbridge in Kokrajhar town following specific intelligence inputs.
Basumatary, a resident of Barogor in Charaikhola, was caught carrying seven containers filled with illegal narcotics. During the operation, three other individuals arrived at the scene attempting to purchase the drugs. All four were promptly detained and taken to the police station for further questioning.
Authorities also recovered nine empty containers and a mobile phone from Basumatary’s possession. These items have been sent for forensic analysis to aid the ongoing investigation.
Police officials revealed that further interrogations are in progress to expose the broader network involved in narcotics supply and distribution in the region.
This arrest marks a crucial milestone in Kokrajhar district’s ongoing fight against organized crime and drug trafficking.
