by Amelia Crawford

Bellefontaine, OH – A 31-year-old man identified as Willy Bueno was arrested on Monday after Bellefontaine Police discovered a stolen license plate on a van parked at the Lowe’s on South Main Street.

The incident occurred shortly before 1:00 PM when officers conducted a traffic stop on a gray Ford van and found that the plate had been reported stolen by Powell Police on September 3, after the original owner began receiving toll violations from other states.

Bueno, who needed a translator during the stop, presented officers with an International Driver’s License and a U.S. Employment Authorization ID. He told police that he and his wife had recently purchased the vehicle but admitted that the title and license plates had not been transferred legally.

Further investigation revealed that Bueno is not legally present in the United States, and he was subsequently placed under an ICE hold.

He was transported to the Logan County Jail and charged with receiving stolen property.
