DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A man was arrested over the weekend following a traffic stop in Darlington County.
William Wesley Bryant was charged with third-offense methamphetamine trafficking (28 to 100 grams) and possession of a firearm/ammunition by a convicted felon, according to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
On Saturday, the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit conducted a lawful traffic stop on Bryant. Deputies discovered approximately 29 grams of methamphetamine in his possession.
Following the stop, the Darlington County Combined Drug Unit—which includes Darlington County deputies and Hartsville Police officers—obtained and executed a search warrant at Bryant’s residence on Ballentine Drive in the Hartsville area.
During the search, deputies found three firearms. Bryant is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a prior felony conviction. The items recovered included two shotguns and an AR-style rifle. Warrants state that Bryant admitted to living at the home and having knowledge of the two shotguns.
Bryant is currently being held at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center. A Darlington County Magistrate set his bond at $20,000 cash for the firearm charge and $50,000 cash or surety for the meth trafficking charge.
The investigation remains active.
