MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) — A 28-year-old man has been arrested following a joint operation between the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the North Charleston Police Department, authorities confirmed Thursday.
William Edward Slaise III, a North Charleston resident, was apprehended on August 21 and booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center on multiple felony drug charges, including:
Trafficking cocaine
Trafficking methamphetamine
Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics
Possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV narcotics
Slaise had been under investigation since July, when he was identified as a primary target in a Berkeley County Narcotics Task Force probe into regional drug distribution.
Search and Seizures:
Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Slaise’s vehicle on August 21.
After Slaise refused consent to search, a K-9 unit conducted a free-air sniff and alerted to the presence of drugs.
A subsequent search revealed:
2.3 ounces of cocaine
12.37 grams of MDMA
74 Xanax tablets
136 Adderall tablets
Later that day, the North Charleston Police Department executed a search warrant at Slaise’s residence, seizing:
351 grams of cocaine
41 grams of Psilocybin (psychedelic mushrooms)
Slaise was transported to the North Charleston Police Department following his arrest. Authorities say he is a known trafficker responsible for transporting narcotics throughout Berkeley County.
