GRAFTON, W.Va. (WDTV/Gray News) – A 19-year-old man has been arrested in West Virginia after authorities say he sexually assaulted a woman while she was asleep during a house party.
According to the Grafton Police Department, William Hank Davis, 19, allegedly assaulted the woman early Saturday morning in a home in Grafton.
The victim told officers she had fallen asleep in a cushioned chair around 5:30 a.m. and awoke roughly two and a half hours later to Davis sexually assaulting her. She said Davis stood and watched as she gathered her clothes and told other women at the party what had occurred.
The victim left the party and immediately sought treatment at a hospital, police said.
Authorities located Davis around 10:30 a.m., sitting in a vehicle outside the residence. Initially, he told officers he couldn’t remember anything from the night, but later admitted to the assault, though described it “differently” than how the victim had reported it, according to court documents.
Davis was taken into custody and booked into Tygart Valley Regional Jail. His bond has been set at $75,000.
