STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. – A Fort Wayne man is facing serious charges following a burglary earlier this week at a home on Jimmerson Lake, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 2 p.m. Wednesday to a residence in the 100 block of Lane 305 after the homeowner reported discovering a break-in. The victim told authorities that several valuable items, including firearms and rare coins, were missing.

Through investigation, detectives identified both a witness and a suspect. A search warrant was executed early Friday morning at a residence in Fort Wayne.

During the search, authorities recovered part of the property reported stolen from the Jimmerson Lake burglary.

The suspect, William Roy Darnell Britt, 37, of Fort Wayne, was arrested and charged with residential burglary while armed with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. He is currently being held at the Steuben County Jail on a $60,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials say additional charges may be filed in Allen County after discovering drug-related items during the search.

Assisting agencies included the Allen County Sheriff’s Vice & Narcotics Unit, the Fort Wayne Police Gang Unit, and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
