A Bexar County man, William Best, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for three counts of aggravated robbery, court records reveal.

Judge Ron Rangel of the 379th District Court handed down the sentence on Friday. Best was convicted for a violent home invasion that occurred on April 13, 2023, in east Bexar County.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, multiple people were tied up and held at gunpoint during the incident. An investigator detailed that Best tied up three teenagers, pistol-whipped one in the head, and forced another to open gun safes.

Best was due in court on June 26 but removed his GPS monitor and informed his attorney that he would not appear. A warrant was promptly issued for his arrest.

He was found about a month later in Fayette County, Kentucky, by the U.S. Marshals and extradited back to Bexar County. On July 30, Best pled guilty to three counts of aggravated robbery.
