Loknath Singh, a 37-year-old real estate agent and loan consultant in Bengaluru, was brutally murdered in a calculated killing orchestrated by his wife and mother-in-law, police said.
On March 22, around 5:30 pm, authorities responded to an emergency call and discovered Loknath’s body inside a car parked in a secluded area. He had his throat slit in what was initially thought to be a straightforward homicide but later revealed to be a premeditated act driven by family betrayal.
Investigations disclosed that Loknath had secretly married Yashaswini in December 2024, despite strong opposition from her family due to their significant age gap. After the marriage, Loknath kept the union hidden and left Yashaswini at her parental home.
Two weeks prior to the murder, Yashaswini’s family learned the truth, coupled with rumors of Loknath’s extramarital affairs and questionable business practices. This led to escalating tensions, threats from Loknath, and ultimately a deadly conspiracy.
Police said Yashaswini and her mother, Hema Bai, drugged Loknath’s food and lured him to Chikkabanavara, where they slit his throat inside the car before fleeing.
The crime was exposed after a complaint from Loknath’s brother. Further probing revealed that Loknath was also under investigation by Bengaluru’s Central Crime Branch for fraud.
West Division Additional Commissioner Vishal Kumar Bikash confirmed the arrests of 21-year-old Yashaswini and 37-year-old Hema Bai, emphasizing the murder stemmed from familial disputes and threats. Deputy Commissioner Saidul Adavath also affirmed the arrests and ongoing investigation.
