Whitney Purvis, known from MTV’s reality show “16 and Pregnant,” was arrested on Monday in Floyd County, Georgia, on charges of involuntary manslaughter. The 33-year-old faces felony accusations connected to a fatal drug overdose earlier this year.
According to official records, Purvis allegedly supplied John Harris, who died from a drug overdose on February 16 in Rome, Georgia, with a powerful substance called “Tranq,” a dangerous mix of Xylazine and Fentanyl. The distribution of this controlled substance and the use of a communication device to facilitate the felony have also been cited in the charges.
This arrest comes amid personal tragedy for Purvis, who recently mourned the loss of her 16-year-old son, Weston Owen Gosa. In a heartfelt June 2 Facebook post, Purvis expressed her deep sorrow and disbelief over his passing, describing it as her “worst nightmare come true.”
While TMZ reported that Weston died from natural causes, Purvis revealed that he battled serious health issues including diabetes and Addison’s disease.
Purvis first gained public attention in the first season of “16 and Pregnant,” where she shared her journey as a young mother.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the overdose death, while Purvis and her legal team have yet to publicly comment on the charges.
