In a major breakthrough, the West Bengal Police, along with the Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Siliguri Police Commissionerate, successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking network operating through the Siliguri corridor.

The 12-hour operation, which took place from Thursday night to early Friday morning, led to the arrest of six individuals, including three women, and the seizure of narcotics worth Rs1.5 crore.

The initial arrest occurred shortly after midnight when four individuals, including one woman, were detained with 600 grams of high-purity brown sugar. During interrogation, the suspects revealed that the drugs were sourced from Malda district, known for its rampant narcotics trade.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Suchitra Burman, Subhash Burman, Anwar Sheikh, and Sayam Sheikh. This operation marks a significant success for authorities in their ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
