Oklahoma State Star Wendell Gregory Arrested for Theft Before Oregon Clash
Stillwater, OK – Just days after leading Oklahoma State to a Week 1 win, standout linebacker Wendell Gregory was arrested for allegedly stealing merchandise from Walmart.
Gregory, a redshirt freshman who transferred from South Carolina, is facing four counts of larceny after being accused of taking $211 in items from a Walmart in Stillwater. According to public records, the charge is listed as “larceny of merchandise from a retailer.”
He was released on bond the following day, but questions now swirl around his availability for the Week 2 showdown against No. 7 Oregon.
Despite the arrest, head coach Mike Gundy has not confirmed any disciplinary action, saying:
“We will proceed as normal, and then if something changes, I’ll have Sean let you guys know.”
Gregory was a standout in OSU’s 27-7 victory over UT Martin, recording three sacks and emerging as the team’s top defensive performer in the season opener.
Oklahoma State has previously dealt with legal issues internally—most notably, star running back Ollie Gordon was not suspended after a DUI arrest last offseason. That precedent may pave the way for Gregory to play against Oregon this Saturday at 2:30 PM ET in Eugene.
If suspended, OSU will be forced to reshuffle its linebacker rotation against one of the toughest opponents of the season.
