UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Jason Lottmann, the owner of Champagne Manor, has been arrested and charged after a lengthy fraud investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation, which began in December 2024, uncovered a scheme in which Lottmann allegedly defrauded engaged couples and investors out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
According to investigators, Lottmann, 41, accepted payments of up to $50,000 from couples for full-service wedding packages. These payments were supposed to cover all services, including the venue, catering, and other wedding essentials. However, as the couples’ wedding dates drew near, many were contacted by vendors who demanded payments for services that they thought had already been paid for. Upon reaching out to Lottmann, the couples discovered that he had pocketed their money without booking or paying for any services.
In addition to the wedding fraud, Lottmann is accused of running an investment scheme called the “Partner Program.” He allegedly solicited large sums of money from investors, claiming the funds would be used for upgrades to Champagne Manor in Monroe. However, investigators revealed that Lottmann had failed to disclose that the property was already in foreclosure, making it impossible to repay the investors.
The Sheriff’s Office further discovered that Lottmann continued to take deposits from couples and sold items purchased with stolen funds on Facebook Marketplace. On January 28th, detectives arranged a meeting with Lottmann at a local storage facility under the guise of purchasing the stolen items. When Lottmann arrived, he was arrested.
Lottmann now faces multiple felony charges and is being held at the Union County Detention Center under a $1 million secured bond. Authorities have indicated that additional criminal charges are likely, and they urge anyone who has been victimized by Lottmann or has information regarding the case to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 704-283-3789.
This case serves as a stark reminder to be cautious when dealing with large financial transactions, particularly when trust is involved.
