Zachary Anderson Faces Misdemeanor Assault Charges After Incident

by Sophia Bennett

WEBER COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) – Weber County Deputy Zachary Anderson, 38, was arrested in January on charges of misdemeanor assault and intoxication, according to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.

Court documents indicate that on January 16, officers from the Sunset Police Department responded to a domestic violence call. The victim reported that Anderson had struck them during an argument, leaving a visible red mark. Authorities noted that Anderson smelled strongly of alcohol and was intoxicated during the incident.

Anderson was off-duty at the time of the arrest. He was placed on administrative leave the following day. He has since been released from jail on a $1,500 bail, pending his pretrial hearing. The Weber County Sheriff’s Office stated that no additional information would be released due to an ongoing internal investigation and the pending judicial process.
