JERSEY SHORE, Pa. — Wayne David Thompson, 38, of Shamokin, has been charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing Scott Huntington’s Subaru Legacy on April 10 in Jersey Shore.

Police say Thompson drove the stolen vehicle to a local store, purchased beer, and then crashed the car on a Route 220 exit ramp. The damaged car was later abandoned in the 300 block of North Main Street in the borough.

Surveillance footage reportedly captured Thompson removing a bag of tools from a pickup truck parked in a nearby lot on Cherry Alley.

Thompson faces charges of felony theft, theft from a motor vehicle, loitering, and a summary offense. He waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Denise Dieter and was released on $25,000 bail.
