Ogun State, Nigeria — A suspected kidnapping ring leader, Wasiu Oloyede, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command in the Odo Pako area of Ota, following a high-profile abduction incident in Alagbado, Lagos.
Oloyede is believed to have masterminded the recent kidnapping of a serving Nigerian soldier, who was reportedly stripped of his military uniform, ID card, ATM cards, and phone during the ordeal. The soldier, however, escaped captivity and alerted authorities.
In a bold attempt to evade detection, Oloyede allegedly donned the stolen military uniform and tried to impersonate a soldier. He approached a local vigilante operative, attempting to seize the vigilante’s dane gun, but his deception failed. The alert vigilante raised an alarm, leading to Oloyede’s swift arrest by police officers.
According to police reports, investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the kidnapping syndicate, believed to be active in the Lagos-Ogun border region.
Wasiu Oloyede is currently in custody, as law enforcement intensifies efforts to dismantle the criminal network connected to the incident.
