A young couple has been found guilty of attempting to murder their stepmother after launching a brutal attack using a hammer and knife.
Wasif Hussain, 21, and Nabela Tabassum, 19, disguised themselves with animal masks before ambushing Arifa Nazmin at their family home on Midhurst Road in Kings Norton on January 29 last year.
Chilling footage from inside the house captured the moment Hussain struck Nazmin with a hammer before strangling and repeatedly punching her. The victim’s desperate gasps for breath and pleas for mercy could be heard as the violent assault unfolded.
