A Washington, D.C., man was sentenced Tuesday to three years in federal prison after pleading guilty to drug possession and firearm charges. Shelvin Jovan Barnes, 33, also known as “Nuke,” was convicted for possession with intent to distribute the illegal designer drug ADB-BUTINACA, attempted possession of N,N-dimethylpentylone, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The investigation was part of a larger operation targeting the shipment of narcotics and chemicals from China. In May 2024, law enforcement seized a package containing 122 grams of N,N-dimethylpentylone, which led to a search of Barnes’ residence. Agents found large quantities of ADB-BUTINACA, manufacturing materials, and a loaded firearm during the search.
Barnes, who has been ordered to serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence, was also found with drug manufacturing tools like scales, industrial gas masks, and acetone.
