KALISPELL, Mont. — Authorities have issued a warrant for Nathaniel Gevern Lewis, 43, who is accused of defrauding Flathead residents in a bulk beef sales scheme.
In March 2025, the Montana Office of Consumer Protection received multiple complaints from Flathead residents who paid for beef but never received their orders.
Court documents reveal that victims responded to local ads on Facebook and elsewhere, where Lewis claimed the beef was available at a local butcher shop and demanded immediate payment.
The total reported loss to victims amounts to $13,075.
Further investigation found that Lewis wrote a bad check to a local butcher as part of the scheme.
Lewis faces felony theft charges for unlawfully taking or misusing property valued over $5,000 between January 1 and September 11, 2025. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and fines up to $10,000.
Court records also show Lewis has been involved in 13 lawsuits in Flathead County over the past five years and has a prior felony theft conviction from 2020. In total, he has been part of 49 lawsuits in the county’s Justice Court.
In March 2025, Lewis agreed to pay $200,000 in restitution to his victims and cease all business operations in Montana.
Authorities urge anyone with further information or who may be a victim to contact the Montana Office of Consumer Protection.
