P Srinivas, the Warangal Deputy Transport Commissioner, was arrested on Friday evening by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. According to ACB officers, during their search, they discovered assets worth Rs 4.47 crore, although the actual market value could exceed Rs 20 crore.
This is the second time Srinivas has come under investigation by the ACB. He was reportedly suspended following a raid by the agency at a check post in Adilabad earlier in his career. His jurisdiction includes Khammam and erstwhile Warangal districts.
The ACB conducted searches at five locations, including his villa in Tellapur and the residences of his relatives. Among the items found were two prime properties in Banjara Hills, a 3,500 sft commercial space, a 3,600 sft apartment, 16 plots across different locations, including suburban areas, and 15 acres of agricultural land. Additionally, they discovered 1.5 kg of gold, 400 grams of silver, and Rs 5.29 lakh worth of foreign liquor, which led excise officials to open a separate case against him.
The total value of Srinivas’ assets, according to ACB officials, is believed to be much higher than initially estimated. For example, the villa in Tellapur alone could be worth around Rs 4 crore. While most of these assets are registered in his name, some are under the names of his family members. Investigators are still probing how he amassed such wealth and who might have aided him in doing so.
The ACB has yet to open his bank locker, and further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of his assets. Officials have warned that the final market value of his total assets may well exceed Rs 20 crore.
