The Sector 27 crime unit has arrested Navinder, alias Golu, a wanted murder suspect who had been on the run for the past eight months. Navinder was apprehended on Saturday night following a reward of Rs 5,000 announced by Commissioner of Police (CP) KK Rao for his capture.
According to a police spokesperson from Sonepat, the incident leading to the arrest occurred on April 21 of the previous year. Harish, a resident of Bazidpur Saboli village, filed a complaint with the Kundli police stating that he and his uncle, Amarjeet, alias Monu, a transporter, were on their way to a hotel for dinner when a car suddenly stopped them. Navinder, also a resident of Bazidpur Saboli and a transport business owner, confronted Amarjeet over a professional dispute.
In the ensuing altercation, Navinder instructed his accomplice, who was also in the car, to shoot Amarjeet. The accomplice fired three shots, injuring Amarjeet. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The Kundli police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
The investigation led to the arrest of six other accused—Mukesh, Rahul, Surender, Rohit, Ritesh (alias Hitesh), and Ashish (alias Bali). However, Navinder remained on the run until his recent arrest.
On January 13, CP KK Rao had announced a reward of Rs 5,000 for information leading to Navinder’s arrest. The Sector 27 crime unit finally captured him on Saturday and presented him before the court on Sunday. The court sent him to judicial custody for further proceedings.
