A Lexington County man has been charged after authorities uncovered multiple illegal gambling machines at his residence in Gaston.

According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Walter Limann Hicks Sr., 51, was arrested on March 9 following an investigation into unlawful gaming activities.

Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant on March 2, during which they seized 18 illegal gambling machines. Authorities reported that individuals were actively using the machines at the time of the raid.

After further examination, each device was identified as a “Pot O Gold” gaming machine. These machines featured games such as blackjack, keno, and poker—forms of chance-based gaming that are prohibited under South Carolina law.

As a result, Hicks faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession or operation of gambling devices and participation in illegal betting activities.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Lexington County Detention Center as the case moves forward.
