MIAMI, Fla. — What began as a high-end vehicle purchase turned into a federal fraud case after Vitalii Stefurac, a 48-year-old luxury car dealer from Hallandale Beach, was arrested at Miami International Airport while allegedly attempting to flee the country.
Federal agents intercepted Stefurac just minutes before he was to board a flight to Cuba, a move investigators believe was part of an escape plan leading ultimately to Russia. Operating under the alias “Viktor,” Stefurac owned Dream Auto Collection, a luxury dealership based in Hollywood, Florida.
Stefurac is now facing federal charges of wire fraud after reportedly stealing nearly $300,000 from Alan Sue, a car buyer in Makawao, Hawaii. Sue transferred the funds in two payments in April 2024 for a 2023 Mercedes-Benz G63 with a BRABUS package—a vehicle he never received.
“I haven’t seen a single penny,” Sue told Local 10 News. “I believe Viktor took my money and went on expensive vacations. He went to Nepal, climbed a mountain, sent me a picture. I think he also went to Europe. All with my money.”
Despite repeated assurances and communications, the vehicle was never shipped, nor was the payment refunded. The FBI took notice following a Local 10 News investigation in July 2024, prompting the federal charges.
Following his arrest, Stefurac appeared before a federal judge in Fort Lauderdale. He was released on bail but remained under scrutiny. Journalist Jeff Weinsier confronted him outside the courthouse as he entered his girlfriend’s Range Rover, which displayed a Police Benevolent Association license plate—adding to the intrigue surrounding his public persona.
If convicted, Stefurac could face three to four years in federal prison and be required to repay the full amount under the Mandatory Victims Restitution Act, which mandates restitution in fraud cases.
Authorities suspect there may be additional victims linked to Dream Auto Collection, which has since shut down. Officials urge anyone who believes they were defrauded by the dealership to come forward.
This unfolding case continues to expose the dark side of South Florida’s luxury auto scene—and may only be the beginning of a broader investigation.
