Industrial Area Phase-1 police have arrested 26-year-old auto driver Vishal Mishra, a resident of Saini Vihar Phase-3, Baltana, Zirakpur, who had been absconding for 15 days in connection with the murder of his friend, Arun Kumar Tiwari (31).
According to police, a case was registered on January 29, 2026, after Prem Prakash Tiwari, Arun’s brother, filed a complaint. The incident reportedly began with an altercation between Arun and Vishal at Chandigarh railway station on January 28, which was initially resolved. The accused had also allegedly issued threats previously.
Later that evening, both men arrived separately at a hotel in Daria village. A second dispute broke out on the upper floor, during which Vishal allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and attacked Arun. The injured man died while being transported to the hospital.
After continuous raids, police apprehended Vishal Mishra, who was produced in court and granted two days’ police remand. Officials noted that he had a previous case registered against him in 2024 at Sector-31 police station.
