Bhojpur, Bihar: In one of the largest narcotics seizures in the state this year, the Bhojpur Police, in collaboration with the Special Task Force (STF), arrested four alleged drug traffickers and recovered three kilograms of heroin on Thursday.
The joint operation unfolded near the Geedha overbridge, under Geedha police station limits, after officers intercepted a suspicious car attempting to evade a highway checkpoint. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered heroin and other concealed items.
The accused have been identified as:
Vishal Kumar of Saraiya Balua
Arun Kumar of Chhotki Sasaram
Abhishek Pandit of Ranisagar
Rahul Singh of Deoria
Speaking to reporters, Sadar SDPO-2 Ranjit Kumar Singh stated that the men are believed to be part of a larger heroin smuggling network operating across multiple districts.
While official estimates place the heroin’s value at Rs3 crore, its worth in the illegal narcotics market exceeds Rs5 crore. Interrogations have already led to the identification of local handlers and syndicate members, and police say more arrests are likely.
The operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs, prompting heightened monitoring on major transit routes in the district. Officials hailed it as a major milestone in their crackdown on organised drug trafficking in Bihar.
