Visakhapatnam Police Target Scam Boss Ankita Operating From Laos

Indian youth lured into Chinese cybercrime racket abroad

Visakhapatnam cybercrime police have issued a Look-Out Circular (LOC) against Ankita, who is allegedly running a large-scale cyber scam from Laos, linked to Chinese companies. Her associate, Mukesh, was recently arrested in the Anakapalli district.

The fraudulent scheme targets unemployed Indian youth by promising lucrative data entry jobs in countries like Cambodia, Myanmar, Bangkok, and Laos. Instead, victims are coerced into participating in cybercrime activities.

Investigations revealed that Ankita, once a victim herself, became a key recruiter and operator, using social media platforms like Facebook to lure Indian recruits. She reportedly sold each recruit to Chinese scam firms for around Rs2 lakh and trained them in fraudulent tactics.

The scam surfaced after five young men from Visakhapatnam, deceived by the scheme, returned through the Indian Embassy. The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) data indicates about 60 individuals from Visakhapatnam traveled to Southeast Asian countries on visiting visas and never returned.

Police continue their probe to dismantle the network and bring all involved to justice.
