Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner, CP Shankh Brat Baghchi, announced the resolution of a high-profile theft case involving an elderly woman’s grandson. The accused was apprehended on Friday, with police recovering 12 tolas of gold and cash amounting to Rs2,10,000.
The crime took place under the Kancherpalem Police Station’s jurisdiction and is the fifth such incident reported this month. Police investigations revealed that the grandson, burdened by debts from trading losses, orchestrated the theft. Alongside three of his college friends, he restrained his grandmother and stole valuables including cash, gold, and the family car.
The suspects identified are Krishna Kanth, Pramod Kumar, Shake Abhishek, and Satya. A thorough investigation uncovered that Krishna Kanth and Shake Abhishek have known each other since their college days. Authorities cracked the case by decoding suspicious phone conversations among the suspects.
Further inquiries revealed the suspects disabled CCTV cameras a week prior to the theft, aiding their crime. The police continue to probe the case and ensure justice is served.
