In a new twist to the ongoing visa scam case, petitioner Radhika Dhameliya has accused the Anand Nagar police in Ahmedabad of unfairly targeting her and falsely obtaining her remand, while allegedly providing special treatment to the main accused. According to Dhameliya, the police failed to properly question the key suspects named in the case, instead focusing on her after her arrest from Surat.
The case began when Ketan Nayak, a senior supervisor at Gujarat Ambuja Exports Limited, paid Rs23.50 lakh to two consultancy operators, Daksh Goswami and Arohi Patel of Anand Nagar, in exchange for assistance with securing a visa. However, despite the large sum, Nayak received no updates, and his repeated attempts to contact the consultants went unanswered. Frustrated by the lack of progress, Nayak filed a complaint at the Anand Nagar police station, leading to the detention of Goswami and Patel.
As the investigation unfolded, Goswami and Patel named Radhika Dhameliya, a Surat-based operator at Kanak Immigration Consultancy, as being involved in the scheme. However, Dhameliya maintains that she was wrongly arrested, claiming she had paid Rs14 lakh to Goswami via RTGS for the processing of her visa, which had not been completed as promised.
In her petition, Dhameliya alleges that, instead of detaining the main accused – Goswami and Patel – the police obtained her custody from a local court. She accuses the Anand Nagar police of failing to investigate the primary suspects adequately and of improperly targeting her. Dhameliya has called for necessary actions to be taken against the Anand Nagar police inspector for what she describes as misconduct and bias.
The case has sparked concern over the handling of the investigation, with questions being raised about police priorities and the treatment of suspects. Dhameliya’s petition, which is now under review by the Gujarat High Court, seeks justice and accountability for the actions of the Anand Nagar police.
