Jordan Bass, a linebacker who recently committed to Virginia Tech’s football team, has found himself in legal trouble after being arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and marijuana possession.

Bass, who transferred to the Hokies from the University of Pittsburgh, was taken into custody by Blacksburg Police on January 19, 2025. Court records confirm that the 22-year-old football player faces misdemeanor charges for DWI (drugs) and possession of marijuana.

After his arrest, Bass was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment, which was initially set for early February 2025.

A native of Virginia Beach, Bass had just committed to joining the Virginia Tech football team earlier this month. His arrest has prompted a statement from the university’s athletics department, which indicated they are aware of the situation and will follow university policy as the legal process unfolds. The statement read, “Virginia Tech is aware of an incident involving football student-athlete Jordan Bass. As this is a legal matter, we will abide by university policy and have no further comment until the process is complete.”

As Bass faces legal proceedings, his future with the Virginia Tech football team remains uncertain. The university’s policy on student-athlete conduct will likely be a determining factor in any potential disciplinary actions or consequences.

For now, all attention remains on the ongoing legal matters and their resolution.
