Katelin Campbell, a 34-year-old English teacher at CH Friend School in Halifax County, Virginia, was arrested on Thursday following allegations of child sex crimes, according to WSET. State prosecutors claim Campbell engaged in consensual sexual contact with a male minor who is at least 15 years old.
School administrators moved swiftly after learning of the allegations. Dana Jones, headmistress of CH Friend School, told Fox News Digital that within an hour of being informed, two board members personally reported the incident to the South Boston Police Department.
Jones confirmed that Campbell submitted her resignation the same day, effective immediately at 6:25 p.m., so no employment action was necessary.
Emphasizing the school’s commitment to transparency, Jones said, “We chose integrity instead of it being swept under the rug. Scripture is very clear that if it was done in the dark it was going to be brought to light.”
Despite knowing that involving law enforcement could attract negative attention, the school prioritized doing the right thing. “We took what we were told to them and let them carry on with their investigation,” Jones added.
The Commonwealth’s Attorney confirmed the alleged victim is a male, though it remains unclear if he was a student at the school. Campbell faces two felony charges: indecent liberties with a minor by someone in a custodial role and consensual sexual activity with a minor aged 15 or older.
She was booked at the Halifax County Adult Detention Center and has since been released on bond. The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest but noted the South Boston Police Department handled the investigation. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Commonwealth’s Attorney and South Boston police for further comment.
