On December 4, 39-year-old Violeta Lima of Madras was arrested for multiple crimes, including first-degree criminal mistreatment, first-degree aggravated theft, first-degree theft, and first-degree forgery.
Lima, a former employee at Prineville Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, came under investigation after administrators reported concerns that she had been accessing client accounts without authorization, according to the Prineville Police Department.
The investigation, which began in June, revealed multiple victims and determined that Lima had stolen tens of thousands of dollars from client funds during her employment at the facility.
Following her arrest, Lima was lodged at Crook County Jail pending further court proceedings and additional charges, police said.
This case highlights the importance of oversight and financial monitoring within healthcare and eldercare facilities to prevent misuse of client funds.
