REDDING, Calif. — Vincent Michael Souza, 24, was arrested on Saturday, June 7, 2025, following a stabbing incident at a residence in Redding.
Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at a home on the 7400 block of Bridge Lane at around 12:58 p.m. A woman stated that Souza, her ex-boyfriend, stabbed her friend before fleeing in a black passenger vehicle.
Upon arrival, deputies found the victim with stab wounds to the neck and arm. The man was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Investigators learned that Souza had come to the residence to return clothing to the woman. A verbal dispute escalated between Souza and the victim. As Souza attempted to leave, the victim struck his vehicle with a metal object. Souza then exited the vehicle and stabbed the victim. The woman who intervened suffered a hand injury but declined medical treatment.
Deputies later found Souza’s vehicle at a residence on the 2000 block of Martian Way. Souza’s father, Anthony Phillip Souza, 53, resisted deputies and was arrested for obstructing peace officers. Vincent Souza emerged from the home, claiming he had been showering, and was arrested without incident.
A search warrant executed at the residence uncovered bloody clothing and other evidence linked to Souza. He was booked into Shasta County Jail on charges of attempted murder, domestic violence, and assault with a deadly weapon. His bail is set at $500,000.
