In a horrifying case from Kapadvanj, Gujarat, Vijay Solanki has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 7-year-old daughter, Bhoomika, by throwing her into the Narmada canal. The incident occurred on July 10 and was disguised as an accident until further investigation revealed the truth.
Vijay took his wife, Anjana, and their daughters on a trip to a temple. On their return, he allegedly stopped near the Vaghawat bridge, citing a leg cramp, and suddenly threw Bhoomika into the water. He then threatened Anjana, warning her not to tell anyone and forcing her to lie to the police, saying the child slipped while watching fish.
Police became suspicious after retrieving the child’s body and finding inconsistencies in the couple’s statements. Eventually, Anjana confided in her family, revealing that Vijay had long expressed frustration over not having a male heir and had planned the murder in advance.
Following her detailed complaint, police booked Vijay under murder charges as per the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. SP Rajesh Gadhiya confirmed the arrest and said the investigation is ongoing.
The couple has another daughter, aged 3. Anjana’s complaint paints a picture of domestic abuse and gender bias, highlighting a continuing social issue in some parts of the country.
