In a significant crackdown under the NDPS Act, the city police arrested Vijay Rahangdale, a notorious criminal and former murder accused, and seized drugs and goods worth over Rs 2 lakh. The operation took place early Tuesday near Shastri Nagar NIT Ground, Wathoda T-Point, based on a tip-off received by the NDPS squad supervised by DCP Rahul Maknikar.

Rahangdale, who has 15 prior cases including murder, robbery, and theft, was found with 20 grams of MD Mephedrone powder, a mobile phone, a moped, cash, an electronic weighing scale, and ziplock pouches. The seized items collectively value more than Rs 2 lakh.

Investigation revealed that Rahangdale allegedly procured the drugs from Shahid Sheikh of Yashodhara Nagar, intending to supply them to woman peddler Prema Gaur. Following Rahangdale’s arrest near Gaur’s residence, Shahid Sheikh was also apprehended from his home. Police seized additional MD drugs worth Rs 2 lakh, mobile phones, and other paraphernalia from him.

Efforts are ongoing to arrest Prema Gaur, who has a history of drug peddling cases.
