Hyderabad, Telangana: In a major crackdown, Hyderabad police have busted a fake Samsung mobile scam and arrested four accused for allegedly cheating over 3,800 people through a parcel fraud scheme.
The accused lured victims by offering Samsung smartphones at unusually low prices. However, instead of delivering genuine devices, they sent fake or low-value items, defrauding thousands of customers.
Accused Arrested:
S. Vijay Kumar (33) – Main आरोपी from Bengaluru
Y. Shiva Kumar (31) – Hyderabad resident
Moddin (32) – Office boy
Shashikant (22) – Office boy
Another आरोपी, Manjula from Bengaluru, is currently absconding.
How the Scam Operated:
The gang advertised cheap smartphones to attract buyers.
Victims placed orders believing the offers were genuine.
Parcels delivered contained fake or worthless items instead of mobiles.
The operation reportedly expanded from Bengaluru to Hyderabad and nearby areas.
Police revealed that the mastermind Vijay Kumar was inspired to run the racket after being cheated in a similar scam earlier.
Police Action:
The accused were arrested by Task Force teams.
They were later handed over to the Rajendranagar Police Station for further investigation.
Several items used in the fraud operation were seized during the raid.
Authorities said the case highlights the growing threat of online shopping and parcel frauds. Citizens have been advised to avoid deals that seem too good to be true and verify sellers before making purchases.
