Vijay Khunti Held at Ahmedabad Airport for Passport Fraud

Forged Documents Used to Get UK Visa; Father Also Booked

A man from Porbandar, Gujarat, was arrested at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad for allegedly using forged documents to obtain a passport and UK visa. The incident occurred on the morning of October 5, 2024, as immigration officials were processing passengers for a flight to London.

The man, who initially identified himself as Vijay Changi, raised suspicion when inconsistencies were noticed in the names of his parents and the address listed on his passport, which showed a location in Valsad. When authorities asked for additional proof, including his parents’ photographs and identification, he failed to provide them. His birth certificate, issued from Bopal, further deepened doubts.

During intense questioning, the man broke down and admitted his real name was Vijay Khunti, son of Raj ji Khunti and Deviben Khunti, residents of Bakharla village in Porbandar.

A police investigation later revealed that Raj ji Khunti, in an effort to send his son abroad, had forged documents, including a fake birth certificate showing an address in Bopal Sun City, and—with the help of an agent—secured a fake passport using a non-existent society address in Valsad.

A complaint has been registered at the Airport police station against both Vijay Khunti and his father Raj ji Khunti for fraud, document forgery, and passport act violations. Further investigation is underway to identify the agent involved and determine the extent of the forgery network.
