by Ananya Mehta

Vidyanagar Police successfully arrested two thieves, Lakhan Raval and Ravi Raval, involved in robbing an elderly Non-Resident Indian (NRI) woman, Sudevi Patel, in Anand. The robbery occurred on October 14 when the suspects entered Patel’s bungalow in Yamuna Park Society under the guise of asking for water. Once inside, they held the 76-year-old woman hostage, attacked her, and stole gold jewellery worth Rs2.5 lakh.

The thieves slapped Patel, gagged her with a handkerchief, and tied her up with rope before stealing her gold chains and bangles. Patel’s husband, Jagdish Patel, discovered his wife tied to a railing upon his return from the market and immediately informed the police.

After reviewing CCTV footage, Vidyanagar Police tracked down the suspects, both residents of Kanjari in Kheda. The stolen gold jewellery worth Rs2.5 lakh was recovered from them. Further investigations are ongoing.
