Victor Rivera, a 49-year-old Nashua man, was sentenced to a minimum of 80 years in prison for the second-degree murder of Patricia Swett and Matthew Champagne in 2023.
Conviction and Sentencing
Attorney General John M. Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke announced the sentence on March 11, 2025. Rivera was found guilty by a jury on January 14, 2025, for knowingly causing the deaths of Swett and Champagne by shooting them in a downtown Nashua parking lot on August 29, 2023.
Following emotional impact statements from the victims’ families and friends, the court imposed two consecutive sentences of 40 years to life, totaling a minimum of 80 years in the New Hampshire State Prison.
