BRONSON, Fla. — Victor Rivera, 26, from Cali, was arrested in connection to the theft of more than $3,800 worth of narcotics from a Bronson pharmacy, authorities announced.

In May, deputies from the Levy County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of stolen narcotics after a man suspiciously accepted a delivery on behalf of the pharmacy. Rivera, who had no affiliation with the business, left with the stolen drugs before law enforcement arrived.

Authorities had previously identified Rivera following a suspicious vehicle report before the theft was reported. Detectives worked closely with agents from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), reviewing surveillance footage and conducting interviews.

A warrant for Rivera’s arrest was issued, charging him with grand theft of a controlled substance and setting bond at $100,000. The United States Marshals Service helped locate Rivera, leading to his arrest on June 20 in Cali, with assistance from the Alma City Police Department.

Rivera is expected to be extradited soon to the Levy County Detention Center to face charges. Investigations revealed Rivera may be involved in similar narcotic thefts in other U.S. cities. The Department of Homeland Security continues to aid Detective Ryan Sullivan in the ongoing probe.
