Vernon Daniels Arrested for Series of Office Burglaries in D.C.

59-year-old charged with burglary, identity theft, and fraud across Northwest Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. (DC News Now) – A man suspected of committing a string of burglaries and thefts at office buildings in Northwest Washington has been arrested, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced Tuesday.

Vernon Daniels, 59, of Northeast D.C., was taken into custody and charged with burglary, identity theft, fraud, and theft.

Police say Daniels targeted private office spaces, entering various buildings, stealing items, and escaping undetected. In one of the incidents, the suspect accessed a victim’s bank account via an electronic device to make unauthorized purchases.

The timeline of the burglaries includes:

Feb. 18–21, 2022: 1000 block of 14th Street NW

March 6, 2025: 1700 block of Massachusetts Avenue NW

April 1–2, 2025: 900 block of F Street NW

April 6, 2025: 1700 block of I Street NW

MPD says the arrest is part of an ongoing effort to curb property crime in the downtown D.C. area.
