Varun Suresh Arrested in Fremont Stabbing Murder Case

29-year-old held after fatal attack at Upper Vintners Circle

FREMONT, Calif. — Varun Suresh, 29, of Fremont, was arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing on September 18, 2025.

According to Fremont Police Department, officers responded to reports of a fight involving two people in front of a home on the 600 block of Upper Vintners Circle around noon. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive victim suffering from stab wounds. Despite emergency trauma care efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suresh was detained immediately, and police recovered a knife believed to be the weapon used in the attack.

Officials described the stabbing as an isolated incident, stating the suspect targeted the victim for specific reasons. Authorities assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community and confirmed that Suresh remains in custody.

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing charges.

According to reports, Suresh has a criminal history including a 2021 arrest related to a false bomb threat, criminal threats, and burglary, as well as a prior case involving the Walnut Creek Police Department.

This marks Fremont’s fifth homicide of 2025.
