ATLANTA, GA — A man was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after authorities say he attempted to smuggle nearly $3 million worth of drugs on a flight bound for Brazil.
On June 28, officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Atlanta Police Department stopped Vance Ray Randolph as he prepared to board a flight to São Paulo. A search of his luggage revealed more than 52 pounds of illegal cannabis products, according to police.
Among the seized items were:
12.35 pounds of THC wax
34.39 pounds of hashish
4.6 pounds of marijuana
1.21 pounds of “pasty marijuana”
The total street value of the drugs is estimated at $2.97 million.
Police released a video of the seizure on their official Facebook page, showing agents unpacking the illegal substances. Randolph was booked into the Clayton County Jail and is facing narcotics-related charges.
The bust is part of ongoing enforcement efforts by border protection and local authorities to crack down on international drug smuggling through the world’s busiest airport.
